Tidypick: Address Cleaner
Split messy addresses into street, city, region and postal code, and format mailing labels for 240+ countries in Google Sheets.
What it does
Tidypick reads addresses typed any which way and writes clean columns next to them: a mailing label in the destination country's postal layout, a one-line version and the separate fields.
- A mailing label in the destination country's postal layout (line order, capitals, postal code position), and a one-line version.
- The separate fields: house number, street, unit, city, region (state, province, prefecture…), postal code and country.
- 240+ countries and territories, including Japanese, Chinese and Korean addresses. A default country for addresses that don't name one; your own country's labels get no country line.
- Works on one address column or up to 6 columns (street, city, state, ZIP…). Detects a header row. A confidence score and notes on every row.
For shops, nonprofits, event planners and anyone mailing to a list.
- It parses and formats text. It does not look addresses up, check that they exist, or check that mail can be delivered.
How to use it
- Install Tidypick: Address Cleaner from the Google Workspace Marketplace (in Google Sheets: Extensions › Add-ons › Get add-ons, then search for Tidypick).
- In your spreadsheet, choose Extensions › Tidypick: Address Cleaner › Open Tidypick. The sidebar opens on the right.
- Select a column of addresses, or up to 6 columns that together make one address (street, city, state, ZIP…), then run. You get a mailing label in the country's postal layout, a one-line version and the separate fields, in new columns to the right. This parses and formats text; it does not check that an address exists.
- Press Parse and format addresses in the sidebar, or choose Extensions › Tidypick: Address Cleaner › Parse and format selected addresses.
- The new columns: Address label, One line, House number, Street, Unit, City, Region, Postal code, Country, Confidence, Notes. Nothing in your own columns is changed.
- Bought a license? Choose Extensions › Tidypick: Address Cleaner › License key and paste it in (the Show button reveals what you typed).
Pricing
- Free plan: 100 addresses a month. No account or sign-up. When they're used up, the add-on says so, and the free addresses come back on the 1st of the next month.
- Unlimited plan: 39 USD a year, a yearly license bought on Gumroad. Paste the license key in the add-on's sidebar (Extensions › Tidypick: Address Cleaner › License key). A fair-use limit of 20,000 rows a day applies.
Refunds: ask within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund ([email protected] or your Gumroad receipt). Renewals aren't refunded; cancel any time before your renewal date in your Gumroad library.
Permissions, in plain words
When you install Tidypick, Google asks you to allow three things:
- spreadsheets.currentonly: See and change only the spreadsheet you open the add-on in, so it can read the cells you select and write its results in new columns. It can't open, list or read any of your other files.
- script.container.ui: Show its menu under Extensions and its sidebar inside Google Sheets.
- script.external_request: Connect to one outside address, sheets-api.fitztoppicks.com (our own service), to check the free allowance and the license and, for most add-ons, to answer the rows you run. Google Sheets only lets the add-on call that one address.
That's all. It never sees your email address, contacts, Gmail or other Drive files, and the only outside address it calls is sheets-api.fitztoppicks.com.
Privacy
- The address text of the rows you run is sent over HTTPS to sheets-api.fitztoppicks.com only to answer them, and is never stored.
- To count the free allowance, our service keeps only scrambled codes (keyed hashes) and numbers: never your email address, your name or the text of your cells.
- Your license key is saved in your own Google account's settings for the add-on, and checked with Gumroad, where you bought it.
- No ads, no trackers, nothing sold or shared.
