What changes the price
Loose or complete?: For disc games, "complete" means the original case, the manual and the disc (all discs, for multi-disc games). The disc alone is worth much less, and a cracked or replacement case lowers the price.
The label (or disc) is most of the price: Light scratches that don't affect play are normal; deep scratches, cracks or a disc that skips cut the price. Check the disc's underside in good light.
Manual and extras: An original manual adds value on its own, as do posters, maps and inserts that came in the box. Note anything that's missing.
Reproductions: Reproduction copies are common, especially for Pokémon and other popular games. A price far below the range here is a warning sign when buying; check the listing's photos and the seller's return policy.
Selling yours
- Test it first, and say in the listing that it works: buyers pay more when they know it plays.
- Photograph the disc's underside, the case and the manual.
- Title it like buyers search: the game, the console and what's included (for example, "complete in box" or "cartridge only").
- Compare with completed sales on eBay, not only asking prices: asking prices are what sellers hope to get.
