PlayStation model numbers: which one do you have?
Where the model number is
Turn the console over: the model number is on the label underneath, usually next to the serial number.
How to read it
PlayStation codes are SCPH- followed by three or four digits (five digits are PlayStation 2 consoles and controllers).
Not sure? Type the number into the finder.

PlayStation (SCPH-xxxx)
What's different: Sony changed the PlayStation many times. Earlier models also have RCA composite jacks and a parallel port; later ones dropped them. The smaller PSone (2000) is a later redesign.
Parts and cables: Lasers and power supplies changed between models: read the code on the old part and search for listings that name it and your model number.

Before you buy, check that the listing names your exact model number and that its photos match your console. The notes here are general guidance written by us, not a promise that a part fits.
