SNES model numbers: which one do you have?
Where the model number is
Turn the console over: the model number is on the label underneath, usually next to the serial number.
How to read it
North American consoles read SNS-001 (original) or SNS-101 (New-Style). The Super Famicom reads SHVC-001 or SHVC-101 (Jr.), and PAL consoles SNSP-001A.
Not sure? Type the number into the finder.

Original (SNS-001, SHVC-001, SNSP-001A)
Label: SNS-001, SHVC-001, SNSP-001A
What's different: The original design. Its multi out port carries composite, S-Video and RGB, so all the usual AV cables work.
Parts and cables: Search for listings that name your model number, and check the photos match your console.

New-Style (SNS-101, SHVC-101)
Label: SNS-101, SHVC-101 · Made 1997–1999
What's different: The smaller 1997 redesign (Super Famicom Jr. in Japan). It outputs only composite as sold: S-Video and RGB are disabled inside unless the console has been modified.
Parts and cables: An S-Video or RGB cable won't improve the picture on an unmodified SNS-101; look for listings that say they suit this model.

Before you buy, check that the listing names your exact model number and that its photos match your console. The notes here are general guidance written by us, not a promise that a part fits.
