PlayStation 5 model numbers: which one do you have?
Where the model number is
Look at the label on the back or underneath; the model number is usually printed next to the serial number.
How to read it
Consoles read CFI- and four digits plus letters: 1000, 1100 and 1200 series are the original models, 2xxx the slimmer revision. CFI-Z codes are controllers and accessories.

Original (CFI-10xx, 11xx, 12xx)
Made 2020–2023
What's different: The launch design. The 1100 series (2021) has a smaller heatsink and a stand that attaches without a screwdriver; the 1200 series (2022) has a smaller processor and another new heatsink.
Parts and cables: Heatsinks, fans and covers changed between series; search for listings that name your CFI number.

Slimmer revision (CFI-2xxx)
Made 2023 onward
What's different: The smaller revision from November 2023. The digital edition can take a disc drive sold separately, and the front has two USB-C ports.
Parts and cables: Covers and the add-on disc drive are made for this revision; search for listings that name it.

Before you buy, check that the listing names your exact model number and that its photos match your console. The notes here are general guidance written by us, not a promise that a part fits.
