KeySieve

Find leaked API keys in your code and git history, on your Mac

Add a project folder and KeySieve checks its files and its git history for API keys, tokens, passwords and private keys, shows each one masked, and walks you through the fix in the order that matters: rotate the key first, take it out of the code, then, if you choose, remove it from history. Nothing is uploaded, and no key is ever tested online.

Free to use without a key: one repository or folder, the files on disk, every finding masked with its fix steps, and the ignore list.

Buy a license key to unlock Pro: every commit on every branch, any number of repositories, an opt-in pre-commit hook, and PDF and CSV reports with masked values.

macOS 14 Sonoma or later · Version 1.0 · 3.0 MB disk image · Notarized by Apple

Findings in a sample project, masked, with a Stripe key selected and its fix steps

Features

  • Finds API keys, tokens, passwords and private keys with gitleaks’ 222 rules (MIT License), applied by KeySieve’s own scanner
  • Every finding masked (first 4 characters only), in the window, the reports and the hook
  • Fix steps in order: rotate the key first, take it out of the code, then optionally clean history with git filter-repo
  • Git history: every commit on every branch
  • An ignore list in .gitleaksignore, shown before it’s written; gitleaks reads the same file
  • An opt-in pre-commit hook that never replaces a hook it didn’t write
  • PDF and CSV reports with masked values only
  • It reduces risk; it can’t guarantee every secret is found
How to fix a leaked token: rotate it, stop tracking the file, then optionally remove it from history
The ignore list, with the line KeySieve writes to .gitleaksignore
The start screen: add a project folder; everything stays on this Mac

Privacy

Everything runs on your Mac: nothing is uploaded, findings are kept in memory only, values are masked everywhere, and no key is ever tested online. The only network requests are the license check with Gumroad and checking for updates.
